The purpose of this competition is to reward and foster excellence, to recognize significant design advances in cartography.

Rules: Propose a map, i.e. an image constructed according to an explicit symbolic spatial language and based on an analogical relationship to another space. A maximal and optimal cartographic expression with minimal means is requested. The graphic effectiveness should be optimized, to the exclusion of superfluous or redundant process.

Material and techniques are free: paper, digital maps, animated mapping, foldings... but the cartographic production should be handled electronically.

Eligibility: The contest is open to everybody. Competitors can be individual, group of individual, but not institution. No need for this cartographic work to be an original one. Entries must be submitted no later than February 20, 2011.

Winning prize: CHF 5'000.

The jury reserves the right not to award the prize.
